The history of St Stephen’s Chapel, from its origins as the centre of worship for the Plantagenets to its role for 300 years as a meeting place for the House of Commons.
The sixteen chapters cover a wide range of topics, including the chapel’s religious life, the interaction between visual and political culture, the kingship and international rivalry that informed its foundation, the adaptation and re-use of St Mary Undercroft, and its role as a site of Suffragette activism. As a result, we were working with a diverse range of archival images, mapping, drawings and photography.
